Li Pigments: The People Behind the Pigments We Use
Did you know that the ‘Li’ in Li Pigments stands for Lasting Impressions? For over 25 years Li Pigments has been doing just that for the Permanent Makeup industry and in doing so their pigments have become an industry standard for quality, high-performing pigments.
Li Pigments Origin
Darlene Story, president and founder of Li Pigments, has been developing the most stable and consistent pigments since 1992. In 1998 she launched her own pigment lines Aqua® and Velvet® after years of gaining experience and a passion for pigments. To this day, Aqua® and Velvet® remain two of the industry’s most used and highly regarded pigment lines.
Darlene isn’t the only Story in the Li Pigments origin story. Her daughter, Mytia Story, spent her childhood at the lab helping out her mom, so it was no surprise when she decided to put her degrees in Chemistry and Biology to use helping push the PMU industry forward at Li Pigments.
Today mother and daughter work closely together formulating pigments, developing products and enhancing the permanent makeup industry. The Story’s dedication, loyalty and incredible contributions to this industry will forever be enjoyed by anyone lucky enough to have chosen a career in PMU.
A Little About the President & Founder, Darlene Story
Darlene Story’s passion for pigments started in 1992 when she entered the pigment manufacturing industry. Her business sense, eye for color and all of her experience helped her to create a team of professional chemists to develop the original Li Formulations in 1998. Her passion for research led to the production of high-quality cosmetic products that are pure, safe, beautiful and leave aLasting Impression.
For over 30 years she’s dedicated her time to developing the most stable, consistent, and smooth flowing eyebrow pigments. She’s considered a legend amongst her peers and is incredibly well respected by other manufacturers.
A Little About the Vice President & Senior Chemist, Mytia Story
Mytia grew up in the lab with her mother, and seeing how passionate she was about pigments inspired a concern with the biology of pigments in order to develop safe, effective and beautiful pigments for any cosmetic or health application. She attended Wesleyan University where she completed her major in biology and her pre-med requirements.
Mytia has spent more than a decade dedicated to researching individual pigments’ biochemical aspects based on composition, manufacturing process and breakdown products. She hopes that this knowledge will help bridge the gap between science and art to make permanent cosmetics more reliable.
